Greetings from Hilltop!
It’s Summer!!! Well, technically Summer doesn’t begin until June 20, but school is out and in Phoenix, that means it’s pool season. The Hilleys have been loving the extra time to hang out with our kids, staying up and sleeping in a little later. We’ve all been getting down on some pretty serious games of Monopoly. Grillin’ and chillin’ poolside with some good music and games are our favorite things to do together as a family.
Weddings continue to be one of the most enjoyable parts of what we do at Hilltop. It is an honor to witness one of the happiest days of a couple’s life. In May, we were blessed to be invited to two beautiful weddings, both of which Tim officiated.
He’s getting pretty good at it and I swear he’s never looked better.

We were overjoyed to welcome Tim’s mother for a visit from Fresno. Mothers-in-law may not always be a delight, but mine sure is.
In the midst of all those joyous occasions, one of the most special things that took place in May was a blessing to Merciful Hearts Orphanage. Our friend, Pastor Paulo, shepherds the Agape Christian Church in Kitale, Kenya, and looks after dozens of children through Merciful Hearts. Through incredibly generous donations, we were able to raise funds for Paulo to buy 100 Bibles written in Swahili so that the children and members of his church can have their own Bibles.
Seeing the enthusiasm and gratitude of these children emphasizes what a privilege it is to have a Bible and that it should never be taken for granted. If you feel led to contribute to Merciful Hearts Orphanage or want to know more about it, below is the link to their website. “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” (James 1:27)
God has put us in some pretty awesome places.
Marriage Tip of the Month
If you’re a parent, summer break means you’re freed from the obligation to keep the kids on track with school routines, which equates to a little more wiggle room in your schedule. Don’t be so quick to fill up that free time with more tasks. Use it as an opportunity to be still and enjoy the quiet moments, less hectic mornings, and pockets of time to just sit with your spouse. We live in a very task driven society. We feel pressure to do more and be more and do it all faster. Sometimes we measure our self-worth in how much we can check off our to do list in a day. But there is richness in sitting still with your husband or your wife and just being present with one another. Perhaps it’s floating side by side in the pool, sitting on the patio hand in hand watching the sunset, or lingering in bed a little longer than normal on a Saturday morning. If you must fill the gaps in your schedule, fill it with quality time with your spouse. It’s never time wasted. With all due respect, King Solomon sure had a way of making things sound a little snarky and cynical, but as the wisest man who ever lived, he understood a thing or two about how life should be spent. “Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your vain life which He has given you under the sun, all your days of vanity; for that is your portion in life, and in the labor which you perform under the sun.
(Ecclesiastes 9:9) So, go ahead. Enjoy your spouse.

Tim & Moriah are absolutely INCREDIBLE. My husband and my marriage would absolutely not be where it is today without them. I grew up going to therapists and it was always fine but this couple knows what they are doing. They give extremely practical advice and can guide you through ANYTHING you're going through. I am serious - ANYTHING. If you are in need of pre marital counseling, trauma in your relationship, or anything in between, GO TO THEM. Do not look anywhere else because they are incredible.
They help you open up so quickly and everything is centered around Jesus, and He is the only One who can truly heal and restore, so it's highly effective. Everyone could use sessions with this incredible couple no matter where your relationship is at! -Tessa |
