December Hilltop Marriage Coaching Newsletter

Updated: Dec 30, 2025

Seasons Greetings From Hilltop!

What a fun and joyful time of year! As we are closing out 2025, we find ourselves exceedingly grateful. This year has been one of the more challenging that Tim and I have experienced, but through all our trials, the Lord has been faithful. He always comes through and He is so worthy of our praise. Much like social media, the Hilltop newsletter is a highlight reel. There is enough bad news out there that we prefer to emphasize the good things God has done and is doing in our lives and ministry. But let it be known, the Hilleys have struggles, too. Isaiah 43:2 is one of my favorite verses. "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire, you shall not burn, nor shall the flame consume you". In Matthew 28:20, Jesus says, “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age". In the good, the bad, and the ugly, Jesus never leaves our side. Psalm 16:11 says “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy;

At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” I pray you have felt the comfort and joy of His presence this year, and that it is even more evident as we reflect on the wonder of His glorious birth.

Early in December we had the opportunity to attend a proposal party. Tim and I didn’t even know these were a thing. We’re old school, I guess. It was so beautiful though. We adore this lovely young couple and were beyond excited to celebrate their engagement with them.

Another one of our couples had their wedding in Mexico this month. We weren’t able to attend, but we were there in spirit and it looked simply stunning.

Mckenna got the opportunity to perform once again in her high school choir concert. She sang “Dream a Little Dream” and was accompanied on guitar and bass by her friends Reina and Logan. They received resounding applause and we couldn’t be more proud.

Tim’s mom, Robin, made another visit and, as always, we were greatly blessed by the quality time spent with her. She is a special lady. Fun fact: this photo was not taken with Santa, but rather by Santa.

Don’t ask…

Ten years ago I was very pregnant with Charlotte who was due on Christmas Day. On the 18th, my grandmother was undergoing a quadruple bypass on the heels of having a heart attack. While she was in surgery, the rest of us went to Olive Garden at which point my water broke right in the middle of the restaurant. December 18, 2015 was a monumental day in our lives. By God’s mercy, my grandmother made it through surgery, but not without complications, and our Charlotte Rose was born at 11:30 pm. My grandma celebrated her 88th birthday last month which is a testament to how big God answers prayer, and Charlotte is now 10. Her birthday is significant in more ways than one and the fact that she even exists is another prayer that the Lord answered. Instead of going through a divorce in 2015, as the enemy intended, we celebrated the birth of our beautiful baby. “You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good.” (Genesis 50:20) God is good, y’all!! Happy birthday, baby girl!!

She and her best friend, Mikaela, had a blast celebrating at a slide park. So fun!

Just for funsies, this was the first Christmas Tim and I ever spent together. 2003!!

  Marriage Tip of the Month

Read the Bible together. It’s that simple. Ecclesiastes 4:12 says, “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” In the context of marriage, the three cords are husband, wife, and Jesus. One powerful way to infuse Christ into your marriage is by reading the word and really chewing on it together. Jesus said in Matthew 4:4 that, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” The Bible is food for your soul. When a couple dives into it with intentionality, actually dissecting meaning and receive insight from the Holy Spirit, a spiritual intimacy is built. You are being fed and nourished together and it facilitates connection on a deep level. It is easy to neglect time in the word. Of that I am guilty. But each time Tim and I take a moment to focus on Jesus, who is the Word, we are left feeling refreshed, centered, and connected. Capitalize on the blessing of freedom we have to study the word and use it to draw closer to the Lord. When you draw near to Him, He draws near to you (James 4:8) and, in turn, you will be drawn nearer to your spouse.

Have the merriest of Christmases and may you be blessed in the New Year!

Thanks for reading!

“I have always been hesitant about counseling because it feels superficial when the person you are seeking advice from seems like a robot and doesn’t open up or let you into their world. Tim and Moriah are the opposite, they are so down to earth and transparent in the best way. Their love for Jesus is obvious and they have transformed our marriage. They are more than just the best counselors, they are friends. Highly recommend!”
